Senior HR Business Partner

As the company’s lead Human Resources professional, you will be part of the Senior Management Team, contributing to the overall business culture, strategy and operational plans from a people perspective.

You will lead the development and implementation of the company’s People Strategy and deliver HR services across all site operations.  You will provide the policies, support and guidance required by operational and departmental managers and their teams, covering all aspects of the employee life cycle.

You will support the development of organisational culture by demonstrating and promoting the company’s values and contributing to the continual improvement of colleague engagement and internal communications.

You will also have the overall responsibility for the effective planning and delivery of leadership, management and wider employee training and development across the business.

Job duties, responsibilities and accountabilities include but not limited to:

  • Developing and monitoring the People Strategy within the Company.
  • Developing and implementing policies and change programmes to support the People Strategy.
  • Managing the employee lifecycle.
  • Advising and guiding on organisational change and development initiatives .
  • Developing and embedding colleague engagement and communication practices and activities, working closely with managers and Employee Forum members.
  • Ensuring the effective delivery of HR functions across all sites.
  • Provide advice on compliance and risk management issues.
  • Ensure policies are maintained in compliance with current legislation and best practice.
  • Maintain the company’s Employee Handbook.
  • Ensuring compliance with the latest UK GDPR and DPA requirements, acting as the company’s Information Officer.
  • Supporting the Board of Directors with a monthly HR report.
  • Represent the company externally as an HR professional with customers, industry bodies and other stakeholders.
  • Work with payroll coordinators to ensure payroll information is accurate every month.
  • Provide advice as to fit for purpose payroll management systems for the ongoing growth of the business.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • An experienced HR Manager or HR Business Partner, ideally with at least five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.  Experience of managing other HR professionals or a team would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience in the development and communication of a People Strategy
  • Proven experience and strong understanding of HR functions and their application in:
    • Recruitment, interviewing and selection
    • Onboarding and retention
    • Training needs assessment and programme development
    • Employment law and its application
    • HR Best Practice
    • Advising and managing grievance and disciplinary investigations
  • Either a Higher National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a demonstrable equivalent level of professional experience in relevant roles.  A Master’s degree in Human Resource Management would be an advantage.
  • Candidates with relevant experience and knowledge gained through an apprenticeship and in-company development will also be considered.
  • Membership of The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), qualified to or working towards Level 7 Advanced Diploma in HR Management.
