We’re on the lookout for a Non-Destructive Testing Technician to provide a high standard of customer service in relation to product quality and validation, through inspection and test skills on shop floor processes both on-site and at customer locations.
Job duties, responsibilities and accountabilities
- To carry out manual ultrasonic inspection to recognised international standards on tube, forgings or rolled bar
- To set-up, calibrate and operate automated ultrasonic equipment for inspecting forged cylinders
- Provide technical advice on matters associated with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Produce reports for calibration, inspection and testing carried out on products
- Perform physical and visual inspection of raw materials, components and cylinders at key stages of production to ensure compliance with manufacturing standards
- Perform other NDT operations on manufactured products
- Control visiting third party inspectors and customers whilst operating in the inspection areas
- Perform and document first article inspections to support the component qualification process
- Carry out identification marking of product to ensure product traceability throughout its operational lifespan
Qualification requirements
- PCN Level 2 in ultrasonics (castings/forgings) and or ASNT qualified (essential)
- Additional NDT qualifications (desirable)
Experience requirements
- Experience in a similar inspection role
- Engineering background
- Skilled in the use of various measuring tools such as micrometres, callipers, gauges etc.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
