What our people say…

Great people are the heart of our business. That’s why we place a real emphasis on providing our teams with opportunities so that they can be the best that they can be.

Martin Wrelka

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Martin Wrelka, Senior Manufacturing Engineer has been working for Chesterfield Special Cylinders (CSC) since 1983 and he still has as much passion for engineering and the organisation as he did on his first day.

“I started with CSC on a Youth Training Scheme in 1983 in the ‘machine drawing office.’ My current role within the engineering team includes many aspects of mechanical engineering from conceptual design to implementation relating to our plant equipment and processes. I’ve seen a lot of change over the years but what has remained the same however is that I have great pride working for Chesterfield Special Cylinders, its heritage and the pioneering ideas and achievements that we have delivered.”

Ryan Hobbs

Costing Engineer

Ryan Hobbs started work with the Pressure Technologies Group as an Engineering Apprentice in 2018. Following completion of his Level 3 extended diploma and HNC qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Ryan successfully secured a role as Costing Engineer in our Al-Met business.

“From a young age I’ve always been fascinated by problem solving and how engineering is such a key part of our everyday lives.

“As Costing Engineer at Al-Met my ultimate goal is to make sure that we thoroughly evaluate each job at quotation stage, ensuring that we do whatever we can to maximise our efficiency so that we can deliver to our customers right first time and on time.”

Amy Walker

Apprentice Design Engineer

From a young age Amy knew that she was technically minded, so she applied and enrolled to do an extended diploma level 3 in engineering.

“Following some research, in 2020 I then applied and secured an apprenticeship working with Chesterfield Special Cylinders.

“My aim is to progress to the point where I understand a lot more about the different technical areas here at Chesterfield Special Cylinders and to be able to add even more value as part of the engineering team.

“It’s an amazing feeling to have finally found where I fit in life.”
